Volunteer Opportunities
A vital part of the mission of Us TOO begins with YOU! Us TOO exists to serve men with prostate cancer and their loved ones. People turn to us to guide them in their journey of battling prostate cancer. Volunteers are the core of our education and peer support network. Volunteer contributions of time, effort, knowledge, skills and leadership enable Us TOO to provide programs and services to patients and families. Us TOO can impact thousands of lives each year with your support.

In addition to helping others, volunteers also experience personal benefits from their contributions. According to The Healing Power of Doing Good, people who volunteer tend to report a more optimistic outlook, increased energy, decreased feelings of loneliness, and a stronger immune system!

Thanks to the international scope of the Us TOO organization, you can volunteer right in your own community or Us TOO can link you to the chapter or support group nearest you. Volunteers can participate in numerous activities. Below are just a few of the many volunteer opportunities currently available:

National Leadership Positions

The mission of Us TOO is accomplished with the guidance and wisdom of our volunteer leadership. Committees, Advisory Panels, Regional Leadership and our Board of Directors are comprised of volunteers with expertise in finance, law, health care, business administration, marketing, media relations, etc. Please contact Us TOO if you would like to be considered for appointment to a leadership role in our organization.

Outreach and Awareness Activities

Volunteers help spread the word about the importance of early detection by distributing information in their local community. They often staff a booth at health fairs held in the local community. Assistance is also needed to help promote programs, fundraising events or special projects sponsored by Us TOO.

Fundraising Activities

Different communities often host a variety of events. Assistance with a current event or leadership to start a new event is welcomed. Small events such as pancake breakfasts, selling prostate cancer awareness wristbands, distributing memorial donation envelopes to churches and funeral homes, all make a difference! Larger events such as 5K runs or formal dinners are also great community fundraisers.

Clerical Assistance

Often your local chapter or support group can use help maintaining mailing lists or designing meeting or event notices. Help is often needed with stuffing envelopes. Volunteers with computer experience are always a valuable resource at the local level and even at our headquarters in the Chicagoland area.
